Fairfield Heritage Trail Association
Meeting Minutes – January 10, 2005
President Jim Barrett called the meeting to order at 7:20 p.m. Attending were Jim Barrett, Claude Ford, Larry Smith, and Ira Weiss.
Approval of the June minutes was moved by Claude Ford, seconded by Larry Smith and approved as amended. Corrections: $160,000 is still needed for Phase I, Terre received $20,000 from the Columbus Foundation.
Treasurer's Report – Jim Barrett reported that per the October meeting $5,000 was given to Terre Vandervoort for land. Acceptance of the treasurer’s report was moved by Larry Smith, seconded by Claude Ford. The report was accepted.
Grant Report – No report.
PR Report – Rick Holt was not in attendance.
Old Business
Lancaster Trail Section
The trail was leveled off by the sewer treatment plant to make it more bike accessible. There are plans to do the second part pending availability of workers and reimbursement of $160,000 from the state. The state is also replacing the bridge on Main Street.
Amanda Trail section
There was a meeting with Jennifer Johns and Dick Strigel. Developers may connect to the trail. A dialogue has been started between Midwest’s attorney and Jeff Vandervoort.
Covered Bridge
Terre is handling the move.
Columbus Interurban
Bob Stebelton sold the land to a person Ron Hinton knows and he may be willing to donate the trail to us. Dave Scheffler and/or Claude Ford will call him about this.
New Business
Ride
Claude ford suggested we do an FHTA Ride.
Elections
Ira Weiss was nominated for President by Larry Smith, seconded by Claude Ford
Jeff Vandervoort was nominated for Vice President by Ira Weiss, seconded by Larry Smith
Dave Scheffler was nominated for Treasurer by Larry Smith, seconded by Claude Ford
Peggy Mahler was suggested for Secretary (she has since accepted).
The slate was approved by acclamation.
Meetings
We decided to hold the meetings bi-monthly on a Monday. The next meeting will be in March.
Larry Smith moved adjournment, seconded by Claude Ford. The meeting adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
Next meeting will be March 21, 2005 at 7:00 p.m.
