FHTA MEETING MINUTES

JULY 18, 2005

Call to order at 7:10 pm with C. and A. Ford, P. Mahler, B. Williams and I. Weiss in attendance.

Minutes were approved by Bob and seconded by Anna.

OLD BUSINESS:

Due to the small turnout, many of the reports: Treasurer’s, PR, interurban, and grants were unavailable.

At this meeting, there still has been no action on the bridge construction at Thomas Ewing.

The group approved spending the additional funds to offset expenses for Ira’s trip to the TrailLink 2005 conference it Minneapolis.  Detail on July agenda. This did not include any monies to fund Discovery Channel pace team.

Due to conflicts, the 1st annual Williams Memorial ride had a very small turnout. Plans were made to try for a ride on the Nelsonville to Athens trail sometime around the 1st week of Sept.

Discussion concerning extending the Fox trail to include paving from Cenci Park to Olivedale, then on to Hunter’s Trace needed more information from Larry Smith. It was felt that it would be good to get Olivedale involved as paving would make the trail much safer to traverse and maintain.

A meeting should be scheduled with T. Vandervoort and D. Bogear to try to move this forward.

NEW BUSINESS:

Ira presented quick discussions and web site info about the RTC design competition and ODNR trails for Ohioans Plan www.ohiodnr.com/trailsplan .

IRS formal approval for our 501c3 is all completed.

Bob brought to the group’s attention that the Barnes family had recently donated a portion of a 72 acre parcel of land between the Clearport and Hannaway bridges to the county parks.  The county used money from a grant to purchase the remaining portion.  This could result in a section of trail if additional land could be acquired along Clear Creek.

Next meeting is scheduled for Sept. 19th at 7:00 pm at Olivedale.

Meeting adjourned at 8:00pm
